Simply Oarsome started out as the brainchild of Martine Elliott.  Frustrated by not being able to buy suitable rowing apparel for herself in Australia, and seeing the potential for a local rowing specific rowing clothing manufacturer, she began making rowing suits in 1988.  Initially she made them for her Mercantile Rowing Club crew members, but it wasn’t long before she was supplying clubs and schools throughout Australia and the Australian Rowing Team.

The business name was registered in 1990 and Simply Oarsome has grown enormously since then, not only in clientele, staff and the size of the factory, but in reputation for supplying top quality rowing apparel at a reasonable price.  The trademarks for the word “Oarsome” and the Simply Oarsome logo were lodged in 1996.

Originally based in Melbourne, Simply Oarsome moved to Geelong in 1996 where it operated out of the old Collins Brothers Woollen Mill building until the start of 2012 when Martine and her husband, Neil Myers, made the decision to move the business to beautiful Tasmania where they wanted to raise their two young daughters (many thanks to the staff who were willing to make the move too!)
